food spread at Counter Culture

Thank you Counter Culture of Vero Beach!

Due to the large hurricane projected to have hit the Treasure Coast, our luncheon nearly did not happen in September.   Regency Independent Living, our host venue, had to evacuate with their residents and coming back the day before our luncheon made it impossible for their staff to setup and work our event.  However, we were lucky that Chef Anthony and his amazing team at Counter Culture of Vero Beach were able to take our group in for the September 6th lunch.

A gorgeous spread that included fresh lettuce and a variety of toppings for gourmet salads were displayed first. Followed by freshly baked rolls, a delightful Mediterranean pasta salad and shrimp saute filled with sweet corn, tomatoes and onions.  A dazzlingly array of desserts, including a chocolate and peanut butter bar, adorned the end of the buffet line.  Perhaps the star of the spread though was the freshly made citrus vinaigrette; featuring fresh orange zest.  Open to the public, six days a week, this is a great restaurant that features local ingredients and amazing nightly specials. Located @ The Boulevard on north Indian River Blvd. 1620 Blvd Village Lane Vero Beach, FL 32967.

Monday – Friday: 11:30am – 2:00pm & 5pm – 9pm, Saturday: 10:30am – 2:00pm

Sixty-nine ladies attended and each seemed genuinely elated to reconnect with each other after having July and August off.  Our featured speaker was Monica Shellbeck, Training Advisor with Dale Carnegie Training of South Florida. It was wonderful to learn and receive our own copy of the Golden Principles.  A portion of the proceeds will go to Feed the Lambs from September through January.

To attend a luncheon, please email AnnaV@WhiteGloveUSA.net, follow us on Facebook and subscribe to our monthly announcement.

Guys and Gals Mixer August 1

The second annual Guy and Gal Summer Mixer is set for August 1st. Hosted at the  Blue Star in downtown Vero Beach, don’t miss the chance to be a part of a fun evening full of good food and drink. What is the best part aside from the great networking? The presentation of nearly 200 backpacks to the Gifford Youth Achievement Center  for their annual back to school bash. A portion of each lunch, for a five month period, goes to benefit a local charity and a tangible need of theirs.  Pak Mail Beachside, local shipping expert, has even committed to filing each bag.

The event is from 5:30-7:30pm. A RSVP is a must. Email AnnaV@WhiteGloveUSA.net to confirm. Prizes are welcome.  As always, a big thank you to White Glove Moving & Storage and Regency Independent Living for your ongoing support.

Successful Food Drive Contest

Thank you to all the ladies who made our annual food drive contest. Collectively we filled half a small moving box truck!

A special thank you to the Sebastian Chamber for bringing in the most. Followed by Pak Mail Beachside and Becky Moon of Rodan & Fields.

All food went to the Treasure Coast Food Bank. Our goal was 2,500 lbs. of non-perishable food and we exceeded it. As a result, the total raised was 3,543 lbs!  Now that is a Successful Food Drive Contest!

Hope to see you all on Aug. 1st when we meet at the Blue Star for drinks, appetizers, networking and the presentation of 150+ backpacks to the Gifford Youth Achievement Center.

As part of their focus, the GYAC offers an After School Education Program (ASEP).  With great success, it serves students in grades K-12, providing homework assistance in addition to tutoring and one-on-one mentoring.  For convenience, thanks to a partnership with the School District of Indian River County, students are brought to GYAC directly from their school and after a light snack and a short recreational time, transition into their classroom.  Better still, a Guidance Counselor is available on-site to discuss with students and/or their parents, issues that may have an impact on a child’s academic success. Students are able to discuss with counselor, individually and in groups, topics of interest to them such as bullying, peer pressure, and parental issues.
